Former ESPN broadcaster Jamele Hill has announced a variety of new ventures, including a gig as a writer for The Atlantic, co-producing a show for LeBron James and Maverick Carter, and a new podcast. Although the ESPN platform gave Hill more visibility in terms of viewers, I’m expecting Hill to have more visibility and impact long-term with her new platforms. ESPN encouraged its on-air personalities to be edgy on Twitter in order to build a following, but that invariably results in those personalities alienating certain fans, especially when the tweets are political.
